Stay Forever Young, Facial Skin Care that WORKS!

"Stay Forever Young with Easy-To-Find Facial Skin Care Products that WORK!"

“Forget expensive or inaccessible skin care products; Get great results with affordable ones conveniently found everywhere!”

Don’t be tricked into thinking you require dermatology branded facial products or expensive treatments to keep your skin looking youthful.  Sure, these things couldn’t hurt, but who has time for doctor visits, office treatments, and broke bank accounts?  Not me!

People often ask my secret to healthy, glowing skin.  Firstly, “thank you” to anyone who thinks my skin looks good!  Secondly, maybe it’s genetics, but maybe it’s not.  It surely is not the effects of having three young children, a demanding job, and insufficient sleep!

Below are a few of my old secrets and newfound ones; every product is easy to find in local retail stores.

For decades I’ve been washing my face daily with two products:

  • Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash – This wash is very gentle, 100% soap-free, non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores).  This was recommended to me many years ago (as a teenager) by a dermatologist and I’ve never quit using it.  Great for all skin types.
  • Olay Regenerist Detoxifying Pore Scrub & Exfoliator – This scrub is always in my shower waiting for use.  It can be used daily to gently smooth and cleanse away dull skin.  It shrinks pores and brightens your skin’s surface.

Recently, I’ve been skipping the morning face wash and replaced it with a toner, Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Toner.  I do not have acne though I occasionally get that ‘once-per-month’ hormonal monster on my chin.  I liked that this product includes salicylic acid 2% so I’ve been giving it a try.  I swear my face looks more tanned and slightly fuller.  It’s definitely creating a glow.  The dirt it removes from my skin is evident on the cotton face rounds.  If you are prone to oily skin, go easy on the moisturizer after using this toner.

For your moisturizing needs, try Aveeno Positively Radiant Skin Daily Moisturizer, it’s SPF 15 which is super important to have on your face at all times.

For make-up removal and a moist cleanse, the award goes to… ‘tried and true’… NOXEMA!  Do not underestimate the value of this product.  If your only experience with this product is that you saw it in your mother’s bathroom cupboard, it was there for a reason and still exists today because it works!  After having LASIK eye surgery, my eyes are sensitive to harsh rubbing.  Noxema allows me to gently wipe away eye make-up with a few finger strokes.  I use it all over my face.  It’s a mini-facial in a blue tub.  The scent calms and relaxes.  Night after night, the kids execute their pre-bedtime tantrums while mommy hides in the bathroom enjoying Noxema heaven.  I can’t skip this product!

At least once per week I bust out the at home micro-dermabrasion kit, Neutrogena Microdermabrasion System.  It’s cost effective, leaves my skin very soft, and plump for hours.  The vibration eases stress.

Before bed, I apply Olay Regenerist Night Recovery Cream.  This product absorbs quickly, is non-greasy, and contains vitamin E.  It provides intense overnight moisturizing and skin cell recovery.

Aside from actual facial skin care products, a healthy diet, exercise and water go a long way.  I try my best to avoid sugars and drink basically nothing but water.  Skip the sodas, coffees, and mixed alcoholic drinks.  Your glowing skin will thank you (and so will your pants because those drinks are calorie killers as well).

I’d love to know your favorite ‘go-to’ facial skin care products.  I’m always looking for something new to try that works!
